Desi Adda – Where South Asian Voices
Find Their Home

Desi Adda is the first truly British South Asian Digital Magazine in the UK, representing British Pakistanis, Indian Britishers, and the wider Desi community, beyond borders, beyond bias.

Who We Are

In a world filled with devising narratives, Desi Adda was built to create something different – a media hub that amplifies South Asian voices beyond borders, beyond bias.

We saw the gaps. News stories that pushed division instead of celebrating connection. Headlines that reinforced stereotypes rather than challenged them. Across UK and British South Asian media, representation was fragmented, but our community needed a place where its stories mattered.

That’s why Desi Adda exists – not to fuel agendas, but to tell our own stories in an unfiltered, community-driven way.

Breaking the Noise. Reshaping
the Narrative.

This idea wasn’t born in ordinary times. It came at a moment when tensions between India and Pakistan were at their peak, when fear loomed over the possibility of nuclear conflict.

The media played its role – Pakistani news blamed India. Indian news blaming Pakistan. But who was telling the story of the diaspora caught in the middle?

We knew this cycle needed to be broken. The South Asian diaspora – British Pakistanis, Indian Britishers, and Desis across the UK– deserved a platform that didn’t just report events but represented their reality.

Desi Adda stands apart by focusing on unity, cultural identity, and honest storytelling. We don’t chase sensationalism; we seek truth.

The Meaning Behind “Desi Adda”?

The name Desi Add ( دیسی اَڑّا ) carries tradition – it’s a place to gather, to discuss, to connect.

When we first searched the term, it was mostly linked to restaurants. But for us, it meant something far greater:

An adda for real discussion, cultural storytelling, and South Asian voices finding their space. A media platform that represents British Pakistanis, Indian Britishers, and Desis in the UK – not just through news, but through shared experiences.

We are not a restaurant, not another generic media site – but an adda for truth, storytelling, and real conversations.
